Indigenous Monitoring and Inspection
The Indigenous Monitoring and Inspection Plan (IMIP) project within BATI is focused on monitoring, inspection, and oversight of fish farm aquaculture operations in the Broughton Area. This monitoring notably includes cooperative counts of sea lice on farmed Atlantic salmon in the open net pens of these finfish aquaculture facilities. This BCSRIF-funded project is designed to implement and oversee the legal IMIP Agreement between the three Broughton First Nations and the two aquaculture companies operating in this area — MOWI Canada West and Cermaq Canada, Inc.
